Wong Wins Award

Darlene Wong

IfA's head custodian, Darlene "Doll" Wong has received the 2006 University of Hawaii at Manoa Chancellor's Outstanding Buildings and Grounds Management Service Award. This award recognizes Wong's "outstanding service, heart-felt dedication, and contributions as a lead member of the Institute for Astronomy's Buildings and Grounds Management team."

The award includes a monetary gift of $1,000 from the University of Hawaii, recognition at a Dean’s and Director’s Meeting, and presentation of a certificate at a special awards ceremony.

For the annual IfA Open House, Wong directed a coordinated effort to ensure that the large facilities would not only look their best for the public, but that the cleaning efforts would be safe and environmentally friendly.
