VISITING MAUNA KEA
The Onizuka Center for International Astronomy Visitor Information Station (VIS) at Hale Po?Phaku (9,300-foot level of Mauna Kea) is open daily, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Public stargazing nightly, 6-10 p.m.
"The Universe Tonight" Public talk Saturday, July 2, 6:00 pm. Harold Butner of the Joint Astronomy Centre, "Cracking the Shell: What Might the Inside of a Comet Look Like?"
"Malalo I Ka Lani Po" features cultural aspects of Mauna Kea, 6:00 p.m., third Saturday of every month.
Mauna Kea summit tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays. Arrive at the VIS in your own four-wheel-drive vehicle by 1:00 p.m. for orientation and acclimation.
