EARTH DAY FAIR

April 24th, 2009

What an awesome event!  The VIS participated in another fantastic Earth Day at the University of Hawaii at Hilo .  A collaborative VIS Staff effort made it possible for the freshest of snow to be brought down from the Summit to greet over 1,000 visitors to our booth, many of whom had never seen or felt snow before!  The temporary tattoos, bookmarks, brochures, and space pogs we handed out went like candy.  Mahalo to the volunteers who came to show their support and partake in the festivities: Dayana Cardoso, Njugu Gachugu, Richard and Marian Hilliard, Amy Kolb, Zoe Calomiris, Joe Hannan, Adrian Estebon.  It was nice to see some familiar faces walking around campus, too:  Kohei Yamazaki , DC from B97, Kenyan Beals of the IfA, and most of Hilo town!  Our booth was ideally situated right next to center stage making it the choice spot for reaching out to the public and being entertained by the many musicians, dancers, and trash-fashion models that took to the stage.  It was the perfect celebration of people coming together in honor of our Great Mother Earth.  See you next year!
