The Colossus Project: Toward the Next, Next Generation Large Optical/IR Telescopes
Jeff Kuhn

A compelling problem, the Fermi paradox, is potentially solvable with the next generation of large telescopes. This talk will describe a way to detect extraterrestrial civilizations and will show how telescopes much larger than the EELT could be built today by relaxing some of the requirements of current "world's largest telescope" projects. The talk will explain the results of a small group that has been working on these problems for several months.
